HID's Bouncing, 3rd replacement pair...
I bought a bi-xenon kit from DDM about a month ago. the install went flawlessly and everything worked from the git-go. However the DRIVER bulb seemed to be bouncing when I would hit small bumps or when switching to Hi beam (less noticeable in lo beam). I tried to "reset" the bulb as DDM suggested by using a paper towel to gently press down on the bulb while it is completely disconnected, this did nothing. So, I called them that day and they did a little troubleshooting by swapping the bulbs from side to side (the bulb then bounced on the passenger side) and they decided to send me a replacement pair on warranty. The shipping was delayed for some unknown reason, none the less they did in fact show up a couple days later. I put in the new pair and everything seemed to work well (it was daytime so I was unable to determine if it was working properly). I left work and it was a little dark, I turned on the HID's and allowed them to warm up. To my GREAT disappointment the PASSENGER side was now bouncing where as the DRIVER side was sturdy as could be. (as sturdy as the passenger side was before the new bulbs were put in.) I had already shipped the old bulbs so I couldn't just swap them and use the original bulb. So again I called DDM and they were pretty uneasy about believing me in that even the SECOND pair had a bad bulb. I again followed their instruction to try and reset the bulb and swap sides to ensure that the problem followed. It did, and now I am waiting on the THIRD replacement pair for this issue. The ring and bulb housing itself are firmly in place and DO NOT move. I believe it is the ceramic ring at the base of the bulb's glass is the culprit. there is nearly no play if i try to move the magnet on the back while it is installed, but it bounces "freely" in the bulb housing (not the headlight housing).
My primary question is this; did I do something wrong? Should I reset the bulbs prior to ever installing them in the first place? Does anyone on here have any idea on what could be going on or is it just pure bad luck that I have gotten 2 pairs of replacements that each had ONE defective bulb?
