Default help a newb?

hey everyone i just had a quick couple of questions....first off i just bought a 2004 f150 ...love it...but only thing that worries me or i dont like is its 2wd...i love my truck so far...but with winter approaching im wondering just how well its going to do in the snow.....i live in wv so the winters arent too horrible but everyonce in a while there a pretty bad snow here..... i know very little about this truck as i bought it used had no manual with it or anything..... and im wondering just how bad are the 2wds in the snow... i wasnt sure if the 2wd have posi rear ends in them or not......i thought they did...but i know several times when i pushed on the gas a bit too hard at a stop light one tire would break lose.... should i consider putting a new rear end in it? the things i was considering are putting lockers on the rear end putting weight in the back and some better tires.....years ago i had a 78 scottsdale it was 4wd but i put 33 inch thornbirds on it...the 4wd broke on it one winter but i remember that even in 2wd the truck still did great so ive considered putting some thornbirds on this truck as i like the look of them and they also seemed to do very good in the snow ... with my job there is no such thing as calling in when it snows too bad so im a little worried about how well this truck will do when the snow comes... any advice is appreciated

Lockers would definitely help you out. Also maybe think about getting a really good tire.

Welcome to the site. Is this your first F150? This should help with what rear you got HERE

My friend had a 79 2wd ranger. He would put sand bags or salt bags in his bed for weight. It made one heck of a difference. But that was a lighter of a truck too.

It works for full size too...When in doubt toss the bags in the back...

ty for the info... i checked my inside door...says i have the h9 rear end.. which is limited slip so that should help some... and after doin some searching on the net...i seen the thornbirds dont hold up as well in the snow as some others ...i had thornbirds on a truck years ago and thought they did pretty well but i mostly bought them just for looks...but i see a few others with an aggressive look that i like that seem to do much better in the snow...so i guess that will be my plan..keep the rear end how it is...throw some weight/salt/sand in the back and maybe some MT baja claws
