Your assessment seems correct. I dont know who rebuilt that engine, but they have no business doing so if thats the best they can do. I am curious to see how they handle this.

I need the link to that borescope.

Go to the 0:58 mark in the video and pay close attention to the back rod cap.

Yes I agree, currently the engine manufacturer wants to send out a third party inspection company. They are claiming that a bad injector caused the rod to break. However, I never had the fuel hooked up. This engine has only cranked with the starter and by a ratchet. Highly unlikely that residual fuel in the injector caused a connecting rod to break. Will keep this posted once I pull the engine again, and put it on a stand.

I don't see any evidence of combustion in those borescope pictures or video you posted. But, they don't want to eat a motor, so it seems logical to me they would inspect it.
