Default Help fried pcm??

HELP PLEASE HELP!! I was just plugged in to my friends truck, a 2007 Ford F150 and was doing an update for him. The computer froze in the middle of an update, and wouldn't download the new calibration file. What can I do? Please help! I am using Ford IDS software, and it was working great until it froze. Any techs out there that can help?

Can you download as-built? Or perform PMI? That sometimes leads to as-built if there is a problem.

I am no ford tech but I have read of this happening to others. Search for this on google and you will find your answer. It is out there, I have seen it multiple different times. Sorry I can't give more info, but I'm telling you search with any key words you can think of. I will do the same and try to find you a link to what I read in the past.

Ok, I tried what I could, and no luck. I tried reloading it several times, and it just kept freezing during the download process. It goes right until the end of the blue bar, and then freezes. Is there anything else I can try guys? Please help, I can't find an answer on google. How do I reprogram the PCM "as built"? Thanks for the input so far! Please keep the ideas going. I have used my ids many times for reflashing updates, and diagnostics, and never had this problem!!

I just had this same issue on a 06 150 Screw. You have to obtain as-built data from FMCdealer.com or have your Ford dealer get it for you if they will co-operate.When I went into PMI it stated my PCM was blank and I had to input the the PCM Part number off of the Tear tag.You then have to enter the as built data manually and it should program sucessfully. It will then ask you some questions about tire size, traction control etc, etc.I did all of this with my WDS so it may be a little different than using IDS.I do not have much experience with IDS as it was just coming out when I left the dealership. My customers truck was doing all kinds of stupid stuff. It shut down half way through the programming procedure when he was trying to go back to the stock tune with his edge unit.It was kind of a cluster but we got it sorted out.Good luck

Thanks, I think I'm screwed at this point. I had it towed to the Ford dealer. They called me and said that they think there is severe water damage. I don't think that's the case though, at least I hope not. I tried recalibrating the PCM several times, with no luck. What is this I hear about blank path programming? Would that work using the existing original PCM? Thanks for the reply!

I think the dealer is going to try and say I need to buy the truck a new PCM. They are acting like they don't even know how to work on it though. I mentioned PMI, and blank path programming and they just sounded stumped.
