Help error P0506
Ok I changed the battery on the 04 finally and when I did the check engine light came on within a hour. Went to Autozone and they gave me this list:
1.Vacume leak on engine
2.Dirty throttle body
3.IAC motor defective
4.Poor electrical connection to IAC valve
Has anyone had this problem or do any of you know what this may be. The truck is really idling low and rough at a stop while in drive but still running. I appreciate any help you guys can give me the wife is having surgery tomorrow her knee and I simply am not going to have time or the money to bring it to the shop for at least the rest of the month and the battery change has me thinking this is something silly that I may have even done switching the battery... Thanks in advance guys!!!

I'd check all connectors located in the area of the battery to see if you perhaps "bumped" one and it is loose.
Another strong possibility is that you have an air leak. Look and see if the black plastic tube that connects the air filter box to the throttle body is loose. Check the clamps to make sure they are tight.
If all else fails, disconnect the battery's negative cable, wait about 5 minutes, then re-install. This clears the PCM (power control module - the "brain" box) of it's codes (assuming the problem is cleared). Let us know what happens.
For future reference, an easy way to get help on any fault code is to simply "GOOGLE" it. Type in PO506 (as an example), and you'll get dozens of hits to read up on to provide detailed information on the code, and what can be done to correct/clear it.
And we hope your wifes surgery goes well.

Can you tell me what you ended up doing to fix this? I have the same exact issue after replacing my battery.
Thank you!!
I had this same problem in my truck right after disconnecting my battery to redo my sound system. After a bunch of research, and checking my air filter and throttle body, I found a TSB stating that this is an issue with our trucks, and usually results in having to reprogram the PCM. Something about the computer being retarded and after a while, not being able to "relearn" the truck after being disconnected from power for a while. Good Luck. I'll report back if it works for mine. (and if it doesn't)
