Default Help, bad smell coming from Engine Bay

Hey all got a 05 5.4 and tonight I went out to pick someone up. My dad smelled something from the backyard when I left. I did not notice the smell until I got back home. So this smell whatever it is happened for the duration of my trip (20mins). I thought it smelled electrical/burning and my dad thought I had left the parking brake on. It's hard to describe smells but I hope that helps. We crawled under the truck and the only thing dripping was A/C condensation water. I thought fluid was leaking and then immediately hitting a very hot surface. The engine temps and everything were all normal.
- Any one have this happen and is it worth having checked out if it persists?

Your parking brake isn't on a little bit is it? That would be the first thing I'd check.

I checked that when i got back. It didn't seem to be on. So I engaged it and then let it back off. It seemed to be producing said smell in Park. But maybe that's all it was. I think I would have noticed if it were slightly on, the truck would be even more sluggish than usual.

Yeah I know what smell you're talking about, the brakes have not been touched since we bought the truck in march.

I thought about that but it's not sulfury smelling. Smelled like an electrical fire to me. Maybe it is the cats I might just get the dealer to run some diagnostics, it needs to be checked anyways

I have read that the emergency/parking brakes can lock up on our trucks (rear drums). I don't remember if it was on this forum or another. You might or might not notice any "sluggishness" with them stuck on. After driving, check for heat on the rear brake drums. If they are sticking they will hot.
