Default Help!! 2005 f150 starting problem

Need help! I was driving the truck down turnpike yesterday after filling up gas, went about 20 miles, tried to accelerate and the truck basically didn't do anything, almost seemed as though it was out of gear, I pulled to side of road and when I got down to about 5 mph the truck shut off itself. Started it back up and it was fine. Next morning went to start truck and it didnt start, would try to turn over, but never started, gave it a little bit of time, went back out, then it started. Went to work, came out to start it and wouldn't start, then when it did it idled for a bit then shut off, then started back up and was fine.

I know its a lot of information, but I'm trying to give detail to see if anyone might have had the same issue. So far I was told a possible bad fuel pump, but I wanted to see what people thought on here. Fuel pumps aren't cheap and was hoping for a less expensive solution if there is one...suggestions?

Check your fpdm, i think that's what its called. Its located above your spare on the crossmember. There known to go out. You can usually tell if it has an aluminum back, it'll be corroded as hell.

Yes, Fuel Filter. My Van stopped dead, dealer charged $300 when they got done. My friends Ranger too.
It was so plugged, it burnt out the fuel pump. Took me days to fix. It is in the tank. Pain in the rear!

I ran down and put one in my 2005 F150 4X4 too. It still looked OK, but it
is not worth it. I am going to replace it every 30K miles or so.
I broke the cheap tool to remove the Quick connector. Get a good one.

Haven't changed the fuel filter, i purchased truck last September it had 62k on it. I heard about it possibly being bad gas especially since it happened right after i filled up....i will try some Heet to see if it takes care of it and also check above crossmember for the fpdm.

Its on the underside of the crossmember, but above the spare. This was a big issue because the road crud would lay on top of it between it and the steel and the aluminum back would corrode quickly. This unit controls your fuel pump, and sounds alot like it could be your problem.
