Heater going bad
Yes ive spent a good while searching up the forums but I can't seem to get my answer.
To start of, I always wait to turn my heater on til the engine warms up but I've been noticing lately it doesn't give out heat when I turn on the blower. It'll blow out, and the temp switch would be all the way down for heat but it doesn't get warm at all really.
Is it a temperature guage for the console or is it the heater core?

Could be many things. One could be the blend door servo, which controls the amount of heat or cold on the balanced temp system. Next, could be the controller(kinda expensive). Have you ever changed your anti-freeze? That could crud up your heater core. Are you getting any fogging of the windows when the heat/defrost is on? Have you had a lot of leaves fall into the cowling of the truck? What about ice and snow?
Another thing... If the engine cooling thermostat is bad it should fail in the open position. I don't know if that would cause an engine code or not. It would cause a lack of warmth as you describe. I had that happen in an older model F-150.

Warm the engine up to temp and put the heat on full. Grab the heater hoses, are they both hot? Or do you have one thats cold? One hot hose and one cold hose means the heater core is blocked. The heater cose has the smallest passages in the cooling system so thats where all the sediment settles.
Change the coolant, remove both heater hoses and flush the core with a garden hose... or take it to a repair shop and have them flush it. 90% of the time the garden hose works.

I had a '98 F-150 that had the same problem. It was the blend door motor. My '08 is starting to do the same thing. They are a PITA to change. Hope you like being on your back! Not much room between the dash and seat to put you and your arms that need to do work.

Well the past couple days it's been 18-30 degrees when I'm leaving and the heater seems to be fine. The hoses checked out both hot when i got to work so I think that morning was exceptionally cold or something. I'll probably change out my heater core soon though anyway.
