Default Heated mirrors - how to tell?

I busted up one of my sideview mirrors backing a trailer in the woods. I want to replace it.

How can I tell if it's a heated version? It has a turn signal light, but no puddle lamp. I have a 2008 Lariat SuperCrew.

Here's a pic:

Thanks in advance!

Heated mirrors usually have a "stamp" on the glass that shows a picture of a mirror with steam rising off it. You can also take the Ford part number off the busted mirror housing to the stealership's parts department and they can decipher the PN to tell you what features the original mirror has.

This is the information I was looking for. Thank you!

BTW, not sure what happened to my pics - they don't appear in my posts anymore! Kinda makes the posts non-sensical.

Wow, so finding mirrors that are adjusted electronically, have signal LEDs, but not heat or puddle lamps has proven to be difficult. Most of the mirrors I've found online have heat and puddle lights - which I'd love to have, but I doubt my truck is wired for it.

Just buy the replacement glass, it can be found on Rock Auto, its about $15. I had to replace mine when someone swiped my mirror with their vehicle. Easier than replacing the entire housing.

Just realized your housing is broken. Might as well upgrade to towing mirrors and get a beefy look.

I thought about upgrading, what's weird is that my mirrors don't have the stamp (mentioned above) that they're heated, they don't have puddle lights, but when I put my VIN in the Ford Parts search and find the mirror assembly, here's the description:

Mirror Assy - Rear View OuterPart #: 17682
  • RH, 12/03/2007 - 08/18/2008, F150/Mark LT, (-)"GCC"Gulf Cooperative Countries, With Black Exterior Mirror, With Driver Electric/Heated Mirror, With Pass Convex Elec/Heated Mirror
I'm pretty sure mine are the original mirrors, but cannot be 100% certain. How could I tell if my truck is wired for the heat / puddle lights?

there's usually a bacon looking stamp on the glass
Also, if your truck came with heated mirrors, you'll have a button to turn them on

Mine also had a nice little button below the HVAC controls to turn on the heated mirrors.
