Default Heated Mirror Question.

Hey everyone,
I have tow mirrors with all options, including heat. My truck is in 08 but did not come with heated mirrors, I was wondering if I could add the heater control unit that has the button for just heat the mirrors and if that would work...anyone know? I think the part number is 4L3H-19808-BF. Thanks

Thanks for the link!

So got the switch installed an it lights up for a second, I will need a new fuse box. Just to recap EVERYTHING works on the mirror except the heat. Puddle lamps, turn and power all work just fine, they were plug and play. So now that I have the switch, all I should need is the new fuse box with the fuse slot for the heated mirrors and I should be good....right?

Do you remember if the truck harness had the wire already there? If not,You will need to run a wire for it to work. Shouldn't be too hard.

Are you sure there was a different fuse box, just for heated mirrors? I might understand if this were an early F150 verses a later year F150, but you have an 08...that's the last year for this model run.

In most cases, the fuse position is in the fuse box, just empty (no fuse). It may be as easy as identifying the fuse number and plugging one in. The fuse panel has the fuse position, but it's not wired (different main/optional wiring harness).

I looked up the fuse assignment for a 2008 F150. It states that the heated mirrors are fuse #8, and it uses a 10 amp fuse. Go to page 299 of your owners manual. Don't have it? Go here and download one for free:

I have already tried that, I actually went to napa and even bought fuses and tried putting it in, then had to crawl in there because it wasn't holding it. I looked and there is no 'socket' for the fuse to go into on my 08. Contacted the Dealer and they found one for my truck that will enable my heated mirrors, it lists for $368 but they said they would sell it to me for $250. We are currently waiting to hear if my fiancee will get approved for a '13 explorer, once we hear about that I may pull the trigger on this.

Try Tasca or post in WTB-someone might have one if you aren't in a hurry. I posted a WTB and a dude that works in a junk yard hooked me up with some parts.

This tells me that the wiring for fuse #8 is not on your truck. The wiring would include the "socket" that snaps into your fuse panel. Is the one the dealer wants to sell you include the entire wiring harness? Make sure. I'm thinking it will most likely be just a fuse panel that you will have to transfer your existing fuse pane wiring harness to, and then you'll be right where you are now.

Head to a boneyard. Find an F150 and rob a spare fuse socket from it and plug it into your fuse panels position #8, then wire this donor fuse socket to your heated mirror wire.
