Default A heads up

Okay gonna replace engine in fx4 320k starting to burn oil and losing power and getting a slight miss under load. This even after new plugs and Coils.
so after research i eliminated jasper engines.
I did this basically because I discovered a few of the rebuilders they use have a bad rep.
So Fraser was a choice and powertrain products
And power train engines. Two seperate entities, products is located in MD and engines in Oklahoma city.
So I checked with both. Products just uses Dorman phasers And lots of non oem parts. If you want the oem phasers you have to get them in the.md facility . Now then interesting enough both companies use AER out of Carrollton Texas to build the 5.4. Aer builds the Ford crate 5.4. The diff here is 400 bucks. The ptengines is 3299
The products version out of Texas is 3699.
And you get Dorman phasers.
If you.are jn the west and you want oem out of MD
you get to pay shipping. For Texas and Dorman it's free.
so the warranties are pretty much the same base.
3years 100k. Products for 400 extends that out
Powertrain engines offers a gold version.at 199
Which is no fault and gives you one replacement
Engine and labor. And addAn24 months and miles.

So checking on warranty many problems with products following through not so much with engines.

So I went with engines one of the reasons was multiple quotes that got higher each time from products and ended up at around 4600 with tax and no warranty.
Engines came in at 4200 with tax and warranty
and given the fact that they come from the same rebuilder in the same tub and same paperwork also same return it was a no Brainer
The customer service was much better also.

So that's about it. Lol

Default Yep

Yep I checked with aurozone and Napa they get atk engines out of grand Prairie they have a very bad rep. When I asked the sales guy at powertrain engines out of okie city he told me they use aer but the engines are 12 weeks out I could get the atk in a week or so. 12 weeks for the aer. I opted for the 12 week wait to get a quality engine. By the way ford uses aer for the crate engines. Yea you can be surprised what kind of info you can get by asking lol.

I would not use atk or jasper. But lots of folks swear by Fraser.
The rap on atk is they reuse some parts and don't use all new oem parts like aer does.
everyone I checked with including my mechanic
Who installs says he never had a problem with aer supplied products. But he said he won't install atk
Because he always gets screwed on warranty by them. Jasper hit and miss..he said fraser is pretty good but he has only installed a few.

I haven't done any maintenance on my vehicles myself since 30 years ago, so my knowledge of Ford is limited. BSG Automotive (FordTechMakuloco) recommends powertrain products.
