Headers in General for 2004 5.4L FX4
The passenger manifold on my 2004 F-150 FX4 is warped and needs to be replaced soon. I could buy a new one for 70 bucks and dick with putting it on (including taking the starter off, raising the engine, etc. etc. etc.) but it seems like if I'm going to go to the trouble I might as well enjoy the fruits of my labor with a little more HP and throat!!!
With that said: before i got drop 500 bucks on Gibson headers has anyone have anything positive or neg. to say about them???
Generally speaking:
1. Performance ???
2. Computer errors ???
3. Compatibility with Edge Evolution Programmer ???
Basically is there any reason not to??? I've heard in the new Nissan trucks (not that i'd ever own one) that the computer starts throwing all sorts of errors when you put headers on. Wondering if anyone has had neg. experience with this addition on their Ford.
Thanks for reading,
Matt

Generally you won't see any performance gains with shorty headers. Longtubes on the other hand are proven to gain 10-20. That being said the Gibson's aren't the greatest. The "computer errors" come from enhanced scavenging and differing O2 sensor location. Converting the Edge to a Gryphon and getting custom tunes will take care of this and ensure the truck runs properly. As for the best long tubes, Dynatech are the best but pricey. OBX are the best for the money. They are essentially the same as Dynatech but without the price tag.
Thanks Otto457.
I might just put the stock manifold on and be done with it if you think the Gibson's are not going to give me a little more HP. I mean 10hp is like the difference of 20 degrees outside air temp.
I'm not looking for a ton of performance (although i'd like it), it was just a good excuse to get some wow factor.
I suppose i could throw on a dynomax muff for 90 bucks and have the same thing.

Yeah I just now saw you are from CA. I'm sorry. lol Since long tubes are out of the question look at JBA or Gibson but you're gonna spend a ton of money for a couple horse and some sound with the shorties v. stock. Muffler swap and a tuner will be the best bang for your buck performance wise.
