Head light suggestions?
In need of new bulbs for headlights and fog lights. I do a good bit of driving dark roads and through the woods hunting so I need somthing bright but dont want a bunch of extra lights on truck...
I looked at some Pure brand for $100 for heads and fogs (probably better prices out there) and have looked at Silver Star ultras ( about same price as Pure) so I am looking for more or better ideas..... thanks

I'd put a set of HID bulbs in there. The ones you see on Ebay, in the 5000 temp range. They're pure white and really put out some light. You won't even need to use your high beams anymore. Don't get the high color temperature bulbs, they're too blue-ish/purple and look like rice burners. But the 5000 temp bulbs are very good. Get the thin ballasts kit. Just mount the ballast somewhere they won't get wet all the time and you're good to go.

A retrofit will be the best way to legally get more light at night. Putting HIDs in your stock housings will scatter most of the light and it won't be much brighter. All you will accomplish going that route is eliminating your choice of highs and lows and blinding other drivers.
trucks a 2005 so I dont plan on spending a bunch of money (like to stay in $100 or less range). I like the ideas being presented and if yall can give me ideas of cost of these retrofit kits or other suggestions I appreciate it.

I did these LED replacements for my fogs and FREGGING LOVE THEM!!!! very clean bright light, and the are plug N play.

You need the Bi-Xenon HIDs so you'll retain your single bulb low/high beam functionality. It uses one element but has a solenoid that moves the element to give you high beams too. It's all plug-n-play, easy installation. When you order them send a message along with your paypal payment telling the seller you want 5000 temperature bulbs. Don't get the ones higher than that or they end up being blue/purple and useless.
I use 'em in my truck. Great light. You can aim 'em lower if you find they annoy any oncoming traffic but I have not found it to be a problem. I put 9005 HID's in my fog lights as well for when I'm driving on really dark roads or off road at night. Those are only about $30 for the 9005 kit.
Here's some LED foglight bulbs if you like that route too. LEDs might be a better choice for the fogs, I'd have to see them side by side to compare to HIDs.

I originally put PIAA Extreme 4000K bulbs in (not-HID)... they were a LITTLE brighter but I didn't think they were entirely worth the price. The other issue I had was my bulbs didn't last more than a year (but they were warrantied!). Apparently (in Canada) as the F150 Daytime Running Light module is actually just a jumper, the surging during starting the truck with the headlights being forced on is hard on the bulbs and shortened the life on them. Same goes with the HIDS (why some people disable their daytime running lights up here). I added a relay to cut my lights out during cranking as I wanted to keep my daytime running lights.
In the end, I went with HID's though. I didn't retrofit as I probably should, they're not nice on other people's eyes and I kind of feel like a jerk having them at times.
