Default Has anyone painted chrome trim around grille?

I just bought a saleen grille to change out the ugly beige honey comb grille - but it's surrounded by a fake chrome trim. I'm not sure why on a truck that has no other beige on it they decided it would look good...

So I'm thinking of getting the chrome painted white or black. Has anyone else done this?

Truck as it is now:

Many people have had their surrounds PTM (painted to match). Definitely the best time to do it is when you take out the old honeycomb grille (since you'll have the whole thing off the truck and ready to go). I didn't PTM my chrome surround when I put my saleen in but my truck has chrome bumpers/other accents around it so it is not out of place. Best of luck in any decisions and welcome to the saleen grille club :P

I like how yours looks - probably because the chrome is so opposite the red. But on mine I don't think it would look as good with it being white. I'm going to call a few paint shops and get some estimates.

Painted mine myself while i had it out. I also painted the Saleen grille with some Krylon fusion satin black. Mine had a visable line down the middle where it was made. Really glad i did both.

I also painted the chrome surround a while back. It came out great, but the only mistake I made was clearing it myself. I used a top quality rattle can clear from an autobody paint supplier but it only lasted 6 months or so and the clear broke down. You can definitely prep and paint it yourself but if I were you I'd bring it to an autobody shop and have them clear it for you....their clear is much harder and should last forever.

Im going to paint the headlights black and install the grille. If I dont like the look with the chrome (maybe it will offset better with black headlights and black grille - kinda like boomers setup). But if I dont like it ill probably take the chrome to a body shop and have them paint it ford white. Ill update with pictures as it comes along.

Thanks for all the responses
