Default Hard paint

Does anyone else find the paint on our trucks to be "hard"? My truck is a DSG and today I tried some Megs Ultimate Compound to get rid of some light scratches. I put in alot of work, and saw small results. I used the same product on my mom's white SUV and it removed scratches effortlessly. Any thoughts?

Are you using a buffer or by hand? I compounded my tail gate with my Makita without any issues. Was your mom's car a Toyota? Toyota's paint isn't as heavy as Ford's from my experience. The swirls might be deeper than you thought and you might have to use a more aggressive compound. Be careful though.

By hand. I'm sure if I was using a PC or a rotary that I would have no problem. The scratches in my mom's car were off an Isuzu (same as the GMC/Chevy Trailblazer). I wasn't trying to remove swirls, but rather scratches from prior washing, my brother has taken a broom to wash both cars. The same scratches came off of my mom's. I might just have to invest in a PC

You'd think a 16yo would be smart enough, shoot I'm 19 and I do the whole 2 bucket deal. I'm probably going to practice with the rotary on a beat up car we have and then try my luck on the truck once I'm ready.
