Default [GUIDE] LED Cube Hood Lights Install

Well first things first, I odered a pack of Cree Chipped Cube LED lights.

SOME TRIMMING IS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT

Now the thing is there are mounts for this project, but they are overly expensive...

so i said no thanks and made my own out of 1x1/8 wide flatbar that was laying around the machine shop. A good hammer, and a vice is about all you need.

Trim the plastic so you can get the bar to go through nicely with the bend.
Want a rough guesstimate to how much? I got my index finger to go straight down into the gap..

Get your angles best you can with the bracket, i will get my measurements when the paint dries....

Drill you a 5/16" hole in each end. Bolt the bottom of the bracket into the hood bolt.
Use a cresent wrench to bend the bracket to the desired angle or get it level.

Now disassemble and you are ready for paint. I painted mine with the Engine Glossy Black enamel paint.

Now you can install your wiring. Lights, and bolt it right up and go!

WIRING TIP:
GROUND THE LIGHT TO THE FRONT HOOD BOLT, (BRACKET YOU MADE IS ON THE REAR) MUCH EASIER THAN RUNNING UN-NEEDED WIRES

That looks great! Any idea on how much clearance, if any, you will have with the hood open?

Can't wait to see how it comes out, I haven't really seen a lot of trucks do this, I've seen a lot of Jeeps that come out nice but they usually have the KCs on the hood. I love the LED lights, so much you can do with them and so many places you can put them.

Are you going to wire them to their own switch or are you going to connect to your fog lights?

Well see before I had kc lights on my bullbar. So I already had the relay switch and all that good stuff. My lightbar Is plugged into what was one of the kc light lines. The other open line will feed these lights. With a few connectors

and nah my low beams are too low so i use my fog lights all the time. I dont want to blind people.

But when its bright you better believe it will be bright haha

This look is really growing on me. I used to hate it but the more and more I see it, the more I want it. Looking forward to seeing the finished product and wouldnt mind hearing what your measurement are.

Definitely sub'd for results on this. They do make mounts for our year trucks (I think its outlawoffroad.com) but they are $90. I would hate to drop that much for 2 mounts. Good job on this!!!

BTW I have these same cubes, they are very bright and work good as fogs but dont expect a whole lot of distance out of them.
