Ground Wiring
I am attaching a backup camera currently and my ground wire needs to be connected to the chassis at the back of the truck. The instructions say “Connect the black (ground) wire of the power cable to the car chassis.” I wasn’t sure if this meant anywhere on the chassis or where would the best spot be?

I spliced into the ground wire for the reverse lamp.

just run a separate/new ground wire to the frame. Could attach at same point under truck ,at rear as last/furthest back factory ground.
id try to avoid splicing into factory wires whenever possible.
good chance to clean up factory ground at same time.

Where is the furthest back factory ground? I’ve been looking for diagrams but haven’t found any with the back included.

I don't remember. What I remember is that the lamp only has 2 wires. One has to positive. The other has to be negative. I tapped into both wires. Then I used a circuit tester. I used the positive for the camera's power supply. That way, the camera turns on when I shift into reverse. And then grounded the camera to the other wire.

I added a backup cam to my 05 Tundra. Ran the ground wire to a screw holding the trailer connector bracket to the bumper. Removed the bolt, cleaned the surface, added the ground wire ring connector and tightened the screw back down. Its been several years, no issues. Just crawl around under there and find a common ground.
