Default GOTTS mod vs. CAI

Okay so my buddy wrecked his truck and is gonna give me his K&N CAI, my question is whats better the GOTTS mod of the CAI? Im really lookin for feedback from ppl who have had both.

Honestly, you'd be just as well off with the Gotts mod and a drop in K&N as you would with a whole new CAI. I think CAI is a bunch of bogus because rarely do they pull in colder air than the stock snorkel and they just make ya want to hit the gas harder which in turn hurts your gas mileage. Either or... it's personal opinion... the CAI filter does look neat under the hood though.

with my scangauge I notice the intake air temp is about 2 degrees hotter that ambient air temp. It may be worse in traffic, I have not tested that. Actually in the north I wish I had an air warmer. I think I would get better mileage for more of the year.

the K&N is not really a CAI, it just pulls air from the engine bay. It works better because of the filter and tube. It can pull air in faster and easier. The stock setup pulls in the "cooler" air from the fender, but the intake tube and filter are more restrictive.
