If you have a belt sander it shouldn't take you more than ten minutes either.

I'm fairly inept, mechanically - and I finished the mod a couple of days ago with no difficulty at all.

To compound the difficulty factor - I printed the photos from the "how to" on this site, then took it and the pieces to work and used the Mouse sander there - then cut it for angle and length.
I finished and painted the parts according to what I saw in the photos - and only then did I take the original intake snorkel off my truck and try the one I made for fit.

It fit perfectly - first time - and needed no adjustments or further shaping.

Seriously - this project is xxxx-up proof!

excuse my ignorance but can someone fill me in on a what exactly a gotts is?

ok so my question is do i have this on my 07 5.4l my intake is different than the one pictured. my filter is mounted on top of the engine with the "snorkel" going over to the fender is this silencer in that tube?

you can save the sanding and buy a 3" tube that is thin enough to go in the fender hole and get a coupling or whetever its called to clamp it to the intake. you should be able to find a tube at a local auto store that should work but it will cost more.

Just get a spectre hose from autozone or wherever and get a 3.5 to 3" downspout connector from lowes. That setup doesn't require any grinding, just plug and play
