I keep getting the p00012 code the truck runs down the road great dose have a rough idle but not to bad and a little tick at start up I pulled the pass side vct and it opens and closes fine timing to pull the front cover??

 

Swap the VCT's first to see if the code moves from one to the other. If not, then you can start thinking about timing chain/tensioner issues.
Is your engine making a really loud ticking noise?

 

OK it's not very loud only on start up don't hear it any other time

 

Then swap the VCTs to see if the code switches sides.
