Default Goin' blue!

Well I wiped all of the green coating away from the back of the display with acetone and cotton ***** and it came off really easy.....took about 20 minutes. Then I covered the areas that I want blue with 2 layers of a blue cellophane that I found in a craft store.I thought about using blue LED's, but with a tight budget I decided to keep all of the original clear bulbs and use the cellophane. As soon as my new needles get here from US Speedo I'm gunna get this thing installed....can't wait It's all starting to come together.....this mod

And the center bezel insert that I wrapped in black leather

And the blues

Whatcha think?

I wanna know how you got the cluster out, was it an easy job? I just want to paint the "empty" spaces black

The cluster itself is held in by four screws after you take the bezel and lower trim piece off, it's very easy to do. In order to access the gray plastic background with the big silver tach and speedo rings you have to cut it apart from the clear face lens with a dremel. They're glued together and this is the only way to get them apart. It was a bit scary at first, but it's really not that bad. It gets glued back together and where you cut is actually covered by the dash bezel.

Thanks, I lucked out and found the bezel and the gauge face on Ebay and I got them for next to nothing. I just do a little at a time.

Thank you, my wife can't wait either, LOL! I have the bezel, the center piece and the gauge face laying on the dining room table. And I also have a black leather steering wheel from an FX4 to go along with it all. It's gunna be quite the transformation.

Are the needles gonna be blue? Also, are you gonna do the steering wheel controls and the AC controls blue?

Yep the needles will be blue with a satin hub just like these. Now that I think about it, the silver/satin hub will really go good with the silver gauge rings. And the next items on my list to turn blue are the steering wheel controls and the AC controls.
