If u change the rear then u change the front or u will have MAYJOR damage when u do use 4x4!!! Just because u don't use it "often" doesn't mean u don't have to change, because when u DO use it it'll be bad. Just save ur money a do the full swap.

No, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Your transfer case will try to spin at two different speeds and explode. Even a small change, such as different tire sizes on the front and back, can destroy your front differential. If your gonna do it, do it all at once.

If you only have enough money for the rear. Take your front driveshaft out until you get the front done

You can run 2 different ratios front and rear as long as you're on ice or snow, but you will eventually break something if you make a habit of it...

I've done it to get me out of a snow bank I smashed into back in the day when I didn't get my front gears installed before winter like I had planned haha...

No need to pull the front shaft out unless you think your gonna use yer 4x4 dial to turn up the heat goin down the highway

Yeah there is no need if youre responsible and have a good memory. But I bet someone drives your truck to move it and it starts to spin a little in the dirt, so they put it in 4hi and bye bye transfer case
