Default Gears

I have 2008 4x4 f150 xlt supercrew and have been looking into getting some 4.1 gears I currently running stock 3.73 ls. I have 33.1x10.8 wheels on my truck (275/65/R18) any comments or suggestions.

Well since you are 4x4 you are going to be looking at spending at least $1000 unless you can do it all yourself.

Also for that type of money to only jump from 3.73 to 4.10, the difference would not be worth the money spent. It costs the same to get 4.56, 4.88 or 5.13.

None of those sizes would be adviseable with the tire you have though unless you plan on going with larger tires. So honestly I would just save the money and stick with what you have. 3.73s are fine, I have 33.2x10.8 with my stock 3.73 and tow a 7k lbs toy box trailer just fine.

Thanks that was very helpful do you struggle up hill at all while towing? I just put a edge evo in my truck and have it set to level 2 the tow custom and haven't tried it out towing yet hopefully this weekend I will be able to get the sleds out.

Not at all! The 5.4 has plenty of power. I never feel underpowered it just uses a lot of gas doing it lol.

I have 37s on 8" of lift, I regularly tow a 2klb trailer with 3klb+ jeep cj on 37s to the mudhole. It is 2.5 hours away. I am running 3.73s, I am getting a edge or gryphon tunner. I would not change the gears if I was you. Me however I am considering 5.13 or 4.88 gears. my truck will run 70 mph all day at 2k to 2200 rpm if i get behind a semi I am running 1800 rpm.
