Default Gear reduction

I have a lifted 2004 f150. It's lifted 6" suspension with a 2" body on 37" tires. Is it necessary that I get a gear reduction? What are the advantages/disadvantages. And if i Should get one what exactly should i get? Thanks guys

with larger wheels/tires itll bog down the power your getting to the ground. gear reductions help get back that power and itll feel like it was before the bigger wheels/tires

i have a 3" lift w/ a 3" body lift, 35x12.5 R20. Factory R&P still which is the 3.55. This gear is sluggo with this combo. I'll be swapping into a 3.73 Precision Gear R&P set next month to gain some power/acceleration off the line. Most people will regear to 4.10 or 4.56 even. I personally feel 4.56 is crazy (my friends HD 2500 Dodge runs a 4.88). I do a lot of highway travelling, so I opted for a 3.73 (wish they made the 3.89 for the 8.8). Hope this is helpful in determining if regearing is right for you or not.
