Gas Mileage gone go ****
So I know there are a few threads here about this but I still don't get it. When I got the truck I was getting 13-14 mpg city. I then put a level and 33's on and was getting 10.8 - 11.5 mpgs. Okay no big deal. Now as of the other day I'm getting mid to low 8 mpg. It's and 05 XLT and I have 118k on the truck. I changed the fuel filter maybe 20k miles ago. I have never done fuel injectors so before I go and dump $400 on those or trade the truck in does anyone else have any other ideas.
Anything is appreciated
Thankyou,
Mac
Ps. Sorry for the titty attack but lately I've been throwing a lot of money at this old girl and it's getting frustrating lolol

Just to throw out another option to look into, are your IWE's locked up full time due to a bad solenoid valve or bad wheel end?
Even though the transfer case is in 2 Hi, if the IWE's are locked onto the hubs, you're turning the cv's and the front differential, creating extra drag.

I'm with you guys about giving it a tune up. Clean the throttle body, MAF, clean air filter, plugs and boots (if they're old), make sure tire pressure is good, run some techron through the system, make sure vacuum lines are all good. Just like with any vehicle, all these little things can add up and kill your mpg's and performance.

I live in Kansas, where winter blend gas hits early, usually around early December. It is now toward the end of January, and I may, may have lost .5 mpg's. The OP has to has to have something going on, even with 118K. I doubt the plugs have been done or new boots on the COP's, throttle body cleaning, MAF cleaning or injector cleaning (Techron) has ever been done.

I did the plugs and coils also at about 20k ago. Ive ran techron threw it too. Never cleaned the maf or throttle which I will do but I really doubt that would make me lose 3-4 mpg. Then again this truck has shocked me before. The IWE system seems fine. No grinding and 2 and 4 wheel seem to be working just fine.. I have never done fuel injectors but we put the truck on a scanner and they were all in the same range of each other and working properly
Start the truck and get under it.. Try turning the front cv half shafts by hand.. They should be free spinning and disengaged from the hub if there working good.. If they are hard to turn or not turning then you are engaged to the IWE..
You could also sniff around each wheel and hunt for the smell of "burning wires".. It may be faint, but it is usually a sign of sticking brakes if you can catch a wiff of it..
Last but not least, check the air filter and follow the hose right to the fender.. It could be packed with leaves in there, and starving the motor of sufficient air flow..
