no I did some research and concluded that it's best to put the OEM plugs in. They no longer make the same original plugs and the new part number that ford will use, and I used, is the SP507. I am hearing different stories, but from what I gather, the SP507 was from factory in the 08 and newer, and actually have a welded seam under the crimp and therefore won't break. However, I don't believe that because I compared the originals to the new SP507s side by side and the crimp looks identicle. so unless they use like an induction braze or something, I can't imagine there being a weld under the crimp. Maybe they just use a lot tighter or closer tolerance of a crimp. Apparently the newer SP507's are not supposed to break. This is just what I'm reading I may be wrong. regardless, my plugs won't need to be changed again for another 100,000 miles and I won't have the truck anymore at that point.

I just did my plugs a few weeks ago, 05 with 70k, and did not have one break.

If you do things right and take your time you shouldn't have an issue.

Broken plugs are easy to get out. Buy the Lisle tool, it comes with both tools you will need. A tool for pushing the broken porcelein far enough into the electroshield to make a tap and another for removing the electroshield. I myself broke 6 out of the 8 and went with the Autolite HT 15 plugs. It's what my Auto Zone had and I just didn't trust putting in another Motorcraft plug. I saved over $800 doing it myself and would highly recommend doing it yourself on the bases alone.
