fuel gauge problems again
So the problem i was having was my gauge was stuck on full so i tried the fuel cleaner/tapping on the tank thing and that solved nothing. So last weekend i dropped the tank to replace the sender/float and realized i was sold the wrong part and wouldn't be able to get the correct one until Monday.
Before i put it back together i decided to test it by checking the resistance with the float at full, empty and everywhere between and it checked out perfect. The resistor was clean as well. So i put it all back together and cleaned the connectors to the tank and the main harness along the frame. Fired it up and it worked.
Drove it around a few days no problems and filled it a couple days ago. I noticed when i filled it, the gauge didn't read completely full but still seemed to work. Then yesterday the gauge was at 3/4 when i made a turn it all of a sudden crept up to full and stayed
Undid the connector along the frame and tested it and got 143.7 ohms which seemed to be correct for a little more than 3/4 tank (maybe im wrong??) so i went and topped it off (took 3.5 gallons) and tested it again and it read 147.3 ohms which also seems right for a full tank.
I've put like 40 hard miles on it today and the gauge hasn't moved. When i get home tonight ill test it again because by then the gauge definitely should have moved.
Any one know how to test the wires running from the front of the truck to that main plug to see if there's an issue there? because the resistor seems to be working.
Any other suggestions on where/what to check?
