Exclamation Fuel gage on crack...

That’s the best way I can describe it. Fuel gage needle points anywhere it wants regardless of actual fuel level. And when I say anywhere I mean anywhere. Below E, 1/4 past full, it’s even done a 180 on occasion and points at the battery voltage. But what confuses me is that the truck appears to know what the actual level is because there have been times when I know the fuel is getting low and then the low fuel warning appears on the dash, even if the needle doesn’t show it’s low.

Any thoughts? I’ve already run about 4 tanks with fuel system cleaner with no improvement

Like @nrivera04 said, it does sound like a bad stepper motor. My instrument cluster had something sort of similar but almost every gauge had different stages of erratic and I needed to have it repaired. It functions normally now.
