Default Fuel Filter & Clips

Need to change the fuel filter on my '04 5.4L 3V XLT. It's new to me with only 59,000 miles. I'm sure the clip on the fuel line/filter is original. So it's 15 years old, brittle and will probably break on me during the change. My truck takes the FG-986B (FG-1114), which is 5/16" inlet/outlet. Are these the correct clips I need?

I believe so... I haven’t done my fuel filter in a while, but there is at least 1 of those style clips underneath.

That should be it.

RockAuto and Napa carry both the 5/16" and 3/8" if you want to be really prepared.

If you're really gentle, the existing clip may not break at all.

I broke mine because I went at it without researching and, you know.......bull in a china shop.

Thanks all.

Fuel filter is 5/16, so size should be correct. Just wasn't sure of the style of clip. There should be only one on the tank side of the filter. I'll crawl under my truck to confirm before I order.
