Front Pinion Seal Replacement
While getting the oil changed recently my mechanic notified me that the front pinion seal was starting to weep. I kept my eye on it and ordered the new seal-less than $5.00 tax included from the local NAPA. Took it by today for the mechanic to replace the seal and he charged me $50.00 including the fluid and modifier. I would have normally tackled this myself but I do not have a puller. I am always looking for a reason to purchase a new tool but I thought I was way better off letting him do it.
As I was leaving his shop a guy pulled in to schedule his Harley model for the same thing. That makes me wonder if the seepage is indicative of only the AWD models since I have not seen the front pinion seal addressed on the forum before?
