Front end and/or steering problem
First time posting on this forum. Have visited to browse occasionally, though.
Backing out of driveway this morning. Turning into the street when I hear a loud bang and also felt something jerk or move pretty hard. Thought I might have run over something. Driveway was clear, but noticed when I started driving forward I have to rotate the steering wheel maybe 15 degrees to the left of where it is normally to go straight. When I rotate it back to the normal position, truck wants to go right (Ford emblem on wheel usually horizontal, now turned approx 15 degrees counter clockwise to go straight). Not good.
Took it pretty easy going to work. Turns OK but whenever I hit a rough patch of road, have to brake hard or make a sharp turn without slowing waaaay down I hear and feel a "clunk". Just had ball joints/control arms replaced a few weeks ago. Besides a problem with that work, anything else come to mind? The steering wheel thing freaks me out a little.
Truck is a 2005 F150 XLT 4x4 with 5.4 Triton and LS rear end. 136K miles.
Just realized wrong part of forum. Apologies.

Did you break a coil spring? That would make sense to me with the loud bang.
Something broke, and it should be pretty easy to figure out what. Broken coil spring (which happens), or more likely, improper installation of your parts.
No matter what, it is a hazard to drive; fix it ASAP.
