Default Front Diff Fluid Change

What a pain in the *ss... Got a wild hair and decided to change the front diff fluid today. Got underneath the truck and thought oh this will be a breeze.. Well after getting all the bolts except the top 2 out, I realized that you have to get them from above the rack with a LONG extension...well guess what...with all 3 of the extensions I had in the box, I was still 3" too short ( yeah I know, that's what she said "). So took the wife's car to O'reilly's to get fluid, RTV and another extension, I get home and realize I forgot to get the RTV...so, once I settled down and went back to the store, it went back together pretty easy. I even cleaned the cover and hit it with some rattle can black to pretty it up a little since I already had it off. Man, I love those quick jobs that end up takin 2 hours.

Sounds like me with my upper and lower control arms. Should have took two to three hours but ended up being 12 because of a stripped axle nut.

I had to use a ratcheting wrench from underneath to get the one behind the steering rack & pinion. Couldn't even get a socket to fit in between.

Sounds like most of the holdup was due to your shopping skills.

I think I had to use 18" of extensions for the top two bolts, and one of the other top bolts was slightly behind something so I had a bit of trouble with that one. Other than that it was pretty easy. I just did this job last Saturday.
