Default Front Bumper Differences

I bought a Warn Trans4mer Brush Guard for my 08 f150, tried to put it on last night and it didnt fit. Theres a bracket that is suppose to come out of the hole behind the license plate, and bolt to the guard, but when I was getting ready to line it up, the hole wasnt big enough for the guard. So Im thinking its for an 04-05 maybe 06 with the square style fog lights. I bought it from a shop that had it laying around so I didnt order it specific to my truck. I know its for a 04-08 f150, but I just want to make sure there is a difference between the bumpers.

Other than the shape of the fogs, there should be no differences. In 2006, they switched to round fogs.

There is a difference. Not only did the fogs go from square to round in 06 (some early 06's have square), but the mounting location also swapped from inside the rail to outside the rail, respectively again. This was done on both the front and rear bumpers (I had to custom fab brackets to get a 05 rear to go on my late 06).

Wow... Learn something new every day. Wonder why they would just change the mounting location if the core support and rear end stayed the same.

I dont know either. It sucks because since Ford did that, Warn decided to stop doing their Hidden Winch for our trucks, and thats why you can only get it for the 04-05 models (another reason the early trucks didnt have the bumper going over the bumper air dam, to allow for a winch line).

I figured, thanks guys, I dont think its worth fabbing up brackets to put on the older style bumper and then still have to get them, just for a brush guard, Ill just deal without it, and put it up for sale, anyone in the Houston area interested?
