Found a youtube video of my noise, but no confirmed solution
Ever since it got cold, my truck started doing then when cruising. Really random and hard to predict. The temps have really dipped down, with some humid/frosty nights, and the past couple mornings it started making the noise at start up.
I was going to record a video tomorrow morning, but as it turns out someone already made a video of the exact noise. The creator never chimed in with the solution, and while a common problem, no one else has either.
2004 f150 150k miles.
Havent replaced the tensioner or alternator. Just bought a mechanics stethoscope, but havent felt like popping the hood for a listen in the 10 degree mornings before work.
Any help?
I've got an aftermarket warranty that's about to expire. I'm hoping maybe they'll replace the alternator if that's the issue.

Every engine is going to make some different noises...If you have no problem listening to the noises i wouldn't chase the problem. My trucks did that since it was new. All the pullies are going to make a different noise, Just as much as the air coming into the engine is going to make a different noise.

I have a VERY big problem with it. I worked my *** off to pay for this truck, and that whine is a reminder that no matter how hard you work in life, you're going to get kicked in the teeth.
So yeah, it needs to go.

I paid $250 for a brand new re-manufactured alternator to me it was completely worth it.
