Found a Hypertech Max Energy tuner used on craigslist for $40. The ad said it came off an 07 f150. I'm not too educated on tuners, so would this tuner work on my truck even if its used as long as the guy's truck has the 5.4 like mine? Also how good of a tuner is the Hypertech max energy?

 

It'll work but it's probably locked to the previous vin. You have to get it unlocked by Hypertech for a fee.

 

The hypertech max energy is agood unit if you want to adjust speed, shift points,fantemps, etc. the caned tunes are so so. If th unit has been installed in an other truck it must be returnd to all of the stock settings in the original truck or it wont work in the new truck. As stated above hypertech will reprogram [unlock it ] for a fee I believe they charge $100. so reserch and make sure ebay return gaurentee applys. if the unit is unlocked and works that is a good price if not its a paperweight.

 

Thanks for the reply guys. It may not be worth the hassle to pay $100 to get one with so so tunes unlocked. I may just start saving up and get a gryphon or something new later on
