Nearest dealer is almost 2 hours away in Mesquite, NV. They don't have a favorable reputation because it's a small town.

Next would be 2+ hours to either in St George, UT... Bullhead City, AZ or Mohave, CA.

Anyone outside of Vegas usually drives into Vegas to buy a car.

No guarantee they'll do anything either. All of those places are kind of small towns too.

Would it hurt the truck to drive to Phoenix to one of the Ford dealers there?

It would hurt me and my wallet! First it's a 5 hour drive tbere. I'd have to pay for gas, hotel & food while I wait possibly several days to find out what they say.

If it wasn't such a PITA I'd have already done it. But again, no guarantee they won't pull that canned response like these other dealers.

I run my own business so it's hard to be without my truck.

Maybe send off an e-mail to one of the Ford dealer with the video in the email to see what they say.

I showed the video to a friend of mine who's a mechanic. Her response was that it sounds like its the chain tensioner(s)

I've been told by various mechanics it's one or multiple of the following:

VCT solenoid, cam, cam phasers, chain guides, stretched chain, oil pump, lifters & AC compressor.

The noise is definitely worse on the passenger side though.

Hmm... Why not do the whole timing set yourself?... The typical VCT noise is always louder on the right side of the engine. Make sure you buy quality parts (which means lots of $) plus the Melling high volume oil pump. (Make sure you get the metal ratcheting chain tensioners, Melling makes them)

Ford OEM VCT's and VCT solenoids (Melling and/or Cloyes could be a good alternative)
Plus timing cover and valve cover gaskets

Why? Because it's still under warranty. Most people don't know you can extend your warranty before it ends. Why would I pay for something when I shouldn't have to? If it was not under warranty I would for sure do it already. But it's not cheap, and again it will take a lot of time to go through and do it which means I would be be out a vehicle during that time.

you're finding out the answer to your question...the warranty is only as good as whomever honors it...it seems your local dealerships and Ford will not...because they claim it is not a warranty issue...

your next step might be a lawsuit (a lot of time on your end) or get it fixed by a trusted repair facility or you and moving on...seems your warranty is near useless...

Good luck with your truck,

Bill

SO I got a call again today from Ford's customer helpline. The lady I've been speaking with Phyllis said they are still going to side with the dealer even though they provided zero documentation as to what they actually did. When I asked her if they followed any of the TSBs she declined to answer which I'm guessing means no. I honestly don't know what help they actually provide to their customers. I finally got her email address though after I pushed on being able to send a video that I uploaded. I asked if she would review it as well as having engineer review it and please provide some feedback. She said the only documentation sex be provided would be from the dealer themselves. I will give her one week and at that point I don't have no choice but to pursue legal action against Ford & possibly the dealership also.

I still cannot honestly believe that there is nothing wrong with my truck and that this is a normal issue.

Even if the outcome turns out to be in my favor I doubt very much I will ever buy a Ford again in the future. From my experience thus far with the dealerships in Nevada and Ford's supposed "help" I truly find it sad that this is how they treat their customers and how little they think of them.
