Fog light bulb question?
My 2008 STX has the 9140 bulb in the fog lights. I would like to to know if anyone has replaced theirs with the Sylvania Silverstar 9145, if they're interchangable? If so had any problems? Thanks for any and all help and reccommedations.
Just some info for anyone that has checked this thread out. The 9145 is a 42 watt bulb has the same dimensions, plug, and base as the 9140 which is a 40 watt bulb. I compared the wiring harnesses between both styles of foglights and found them to be the same gauge. I have not noticed any excessive or additional heat build-up in the foglight housings or the wiring harness with the 9145's in either. If I have any problems with the new set-up I will let you guys/gals know.
Glad to help out when I can Dark Stone. To answer your question racin4ds, yes but it is because the Silverstars have a better kelvin rating than the stock bulbs do.

2 watts/12vdc = .166A not enough to matter.
Thanks for the amp formula darcurr. I am not sure if the bulbs are 42 watts or 45 watts, the packaging says 45W but the bulbs are marked as 42W. I will check this out over the weekend at a couple different stores to get this figured out. Even if they are 45 watts I am not sure if the additional 0.416A is enough to matter?

Thanks again darcurr!! I found the same thing with the packaging and the bulbs over the weekend. Either way it doesn't matter, with darcurr's math shown above there will not be a problem.
