Default flywheel replacement

hey guys
my 06 f150 has been having issues starting ( grinding )
replaced starter and still does it
looked thru the dust cover in the transmission housing and found that 3 teeth have the points grinded of ( insteadof being pointy they are flat )
and there is some grinding on the other side of the teeth as well
so im wondering ive been trying to find a flywheel online as local they are super exspensive.
but it is proving to be difficult i have heard them called either a flywheel or a ring gear
which one is it?

It's actually called a flex plate for an automatic, flywheels match with manual transmissions

A ring gear would be a ring-of-gears designed to fit around older flywheels as a replacement for worn teeth.

What you have would be technically called a flexplate, but is commonly (although incorrectly) referred to as a "flywheel".

Apparently, you are not alone since this seems to be a recently common problem with these starters/flexplates.
