Since we're on the subject of transmissions, I have a 2006, how do you read your fluid level? I parked mine in several "level" areas and can't get a correct reading. (The engine is running, and in shifter in N)

The mechanic in charge at the local All Tune & Lube told me they refused to change fluid in any auto transmission if it has over 100,000 miles. The reason: He said it is a frequent problem in these instances for the transmission to fail immediately. He said some will not even back out of the service bay. He also said this is the policyof all local transmission shops because of this problem.

Any of you guys ever heard this?

If you were to do both the filter and the flush, what should be done first?
Would you drop the pan, then add 4 qts than flush?
Drop the pan, than flush, letting the machine add the fluid?

The filter should be changed at the time of a flush, so I'd guess the pan is dropped, filter changed, then the tranny is flushed without topping or adding the 4 quarts losts during the pan drop.

go old school and change the fluid and filter every 30k. you cant go wrong with that.
the flush is also good but you dont get a new filter and no matter what they say that machine doesnt wash it out(i used to work at an oil change shop, did alot of flushes).

on a personal note i put lucas in my tranny every other time i change the fluid and filter

oh and the best way to check the new fluid level is to hold the brake and change gear to gear
like reverse.. wait a sec, then neutral.. wait, then drive and so on. then check the fluid with it running and in park

when i did it for kwik car i refilled it then flushed... i mean the guy is paying 130 dollars for filter and flush... the shop can afford 14 quarts.

most folks just do the $100 flush...and i ran 12 quarts threw it instead of just 10 lol........ they fired me!!!! lmao
