Default Floor Shifter Difference?

Can't figure this out, maybe you guys can help?
I'm looking for a replacement floor shifter handle since the gray top part has been faded/worn away since I bought it. I found several on eBay, but two different ones that look identical. One is for 2004-06, the other is a 2007-08. The 04-06 has the chrome trigger part, the 07-08 one doesn't. Does anyone know what the difference is?

On another note, I know for a fact that my dad's truck (2012 Platinum Screw) is longer in wheelbase and door length by 5" than mine (2004 Lariat Screw). Did this change occur in 2009? Unrelated, I know, but I'm just curious.

Anyway, thanks guys!

They redesigned the mechanism inside the handle...I guess because they weren't holding up. On a side note, get or make a leather overlay. It will cover the gray up and feel better too.
