Fix or sell
Not that its not tough, but I bet someone can get that out . Heads can be pulled in with the engine in there also .
No way you should have to spend 4800 .
"I had the same problem....i ended up welding a tap on a long extension..and i re-tapped some threads in the metal part of the plug, then the Lisle tool was able to bite in the new threads i made..and it worked...this was on #4 also..

Thanks guys. I believe I'm gonna get the truck towed back home from the dealership before I decide to have them do any work. Do you guys have any ideas on how to get more of the porcelain out? Stuff seems like concrete.
Do you happen to remember what size tap you had used?
Also do you guys have any more tips? My biggest problem seems to get the lisle tool to bite. I pulled 3 successfully, fairly easy too. I bottomed out the porcelain pusher tool on each one, and verified that by doing it again. I press down on the tool, turn it counter clockwise, but it just spins and spins without biting. I was just super frustrated with it after awhile.

Dealerships don't want to get to 'creative' and deviate from official Ford procedures because of liability.
Find a good mechanic (he's probably gonna be an independent) and he'll rig something up to get it out.. the only thing holding the met tip in is friction.... a good mechanic can whip something up for WAY less than $4800.
