After installing Power Stop rotors and pads the brakes are better, but still the pedal is squishy and needs to be pumped to get a firmer pedal.

I recently upgraded the brake hoses to SS braided from Crown Performance. I went with Crown because they will make a 5 piece set. Not just a 2 or 3 piece set. So, I've had time to install, and drive. The install is straight forward and kit comes with new clips, brackets, and washers. The only place I had problems is getting the rear L/R hoses off the hard line. In the end I just made new hard lines going from the rear center line to the L/R hoses.

After a bit of driving. I think it's finally where I want it. Now it doesn't throw you in windshield by any means. But, it is like if you pump your brake pedal when stopping to get the good firm pedal. I now don't worry about if I can stop in time under a emergency braking situation.

It's not a cheap upgrade, but if you can spend $300 on a CAI, $500 on a tune, and $500 on exhaust. All in the name of going fast. You can $100-$250 in the name of stopping fast.

Nice. I replaced pads all around and bled the hell out of them which made a world of difference, and resulted in decent pedal feel, but still not as great as others I have. I never drove one of these trucks new to have a comparison. Never thought to replace the rubber lines. Amazed they wear out so “fast.”

Thanks.
Well if you are like me and don't have records to back it up. Who knows how the previous owner took care of it. 12+ years on original brake fluid, unknown number of brake jobs, unknown number of panic stops. Can all contribute to the hoses bring worn while they still look great from the outside.

My truck was family owned since new, so I do know the history, my uncle even mentioned the soft pedal despite bleedings. I attributed it to the basic Duralast pads, as pedal did firm up with Carquest’s premium pads. But compared to even my 2 ‘80s GMs (the ‘84 still having its original rubber lines), I agree the pedal was on the soft side at 15 years young. Truck would stop short without issue don’t get me wrong even with 6k lbs of weight in tow, but I like accelerator, clutch and brake pedals to be hard.

Mine aren't all that great either despite good bleeds and adjusting. Stops well enough but agree not the best brake feel. Braided lines probably would help that some.

WOW you again?

Make up my mind about what? Oh! I see you are still not comprehending what you're reading.

Don't worry about it Bob. It's obvious that this thread has completely went over your head, and I'm not going to explain it to you again.
