Truck is put back together and runs like a dream! No noise, and I can pick it up tomorrow!

Here is the video of my truck fixed. The problem wasn't just that the electrode of the spark plug in piston chamber #6 broke off. The dealership I had change my spark plug installed six out of the eight wrong. They were only hand tight!

Well, well, well there goes my family vacation to Disney. Code says bank 2 cam over retarded. Switched sensors and solenoids no change in code. Replaced phaser and solenoid. Still getting same code and bad idol. Nothing left to replace or test. At a total loss for what to do.

I was wondering if someone can help me determine if this will help me.

I have a 2005 ford expedition 5.4. I recently had the transmission repaired and when I got it back the car began shaking while accelerating, but it calms down as I accelllerate some more.

I check the codes and at first I was receiving P0340 so I took it back to the transmission guy and told him the car was not shaking when I took it in and I did not have any codes.

He checked it and didn't find anything then had his mechanic check it. The switched the cam sensors from bank 1 and to 2 and the code did not change to 2. He said he thinks its the phaser that needs to be replaced.

I did notice that now that I got the car back from him the code is now P0012 and P0340 does not show up anymore.

I also noticed as I pulled into my driveway I was turning right and the car started shaking violently, I haven't been able to reproduce it.

What do you guys think? I am actually at a loss with this car and have already thrown too much money into it. I would like to sell it, but I am not sure if I can sell it in this condition and what I would get for it.

Is it running rough regardless of the gear it's in, or just in drive? How about at an idle? Any white smoke? You're explaining similar symptoms of my injectors that had failed.

It runs rough when I first take off, but after that its good. It happens on reverse also. It does have a very small shake when on idle if I really pay attention to it, but its really not bad. The shaking really only comes when I first accelerate.

I am tackling this job this weekend. I started late afternoon by removing components. First thing in the morning will be pulling the fan clutch and then proceed to valve covers / timing chain covers..... wish me good luck :-) It will be a long day.

Here I am at 2:40pm Eastern. The passenger valve cover is off. I wish I would have seen the tip of removing the wheel house inside cover for getting to the last two bolts sooner. I was also slowed down by having to run back to the store twice because my impact wrench would not do the job on the crank pulley bolt.
The 18mm bolt that hold the transmission filler tube in place has got to be the #1 oversized bolt on this whole truck! 18mm!!! Were they out of their minds? Plus it had about 300lbs of torque on it. I also don't like all of the dirt/sand that accumulated around the spark plug recess and some it dropped into the head now when the cover comes off. No way to avoid that. Sucks.

Default Yipee

Just finished this job on my 2004 and it never was this quiet even when I bought it new. I just have to say A big Thanks. The only issue I had installing the Phasers tensioners chains and guides, was when I torqued the Phasers down. I marked the gears after the 30 ft lbs tourque a line straight across the gear and across the bolt. But in my haste I went 180%. Continued putting it back together. Had Valve covers on top end all done, cranked over with pedal to the floor a couple of times. Then went to bed, then in the night I woke up with cold sweats and realized my error. Weighed my options and just couldn't keep going with the assembly. Early Am the next day, Just Loosened Valve covers to get at the Phaser bolt. By Then it was late enough that some shops were now open, Ran around to several cities trying to find a couple of new Phaser bolts. Found them and had every thing lined up take another go at it around Noon. Was very careful so as to not drop anything when removing the over torqued bolts. And every thing went without a hitch. Other than breaking off the power steering pump installer in the pump shaft. Pulley Was not quite all of the way on and the belt was squealing so I just shimmed the pulley next to it and it is quiet now. I Also want to give a big thanks to Brandon Schaffner at OEM Select parts. I purchased the Factory Ford parts I needed from him on E-Bay. Parts are half price of Dealer cost. Around $550.00 for everything. Looking back on this follow this to a tee and your 5.4 will thank you. By the way my phaseres looked good and my tensioners were not sealing. Split seal on both. I run Mobil 1 5w20 and have 109K miles on it.
