WOW, that's just a baby. My wifes has 134k and is knocking like crazy. I'm debating on paying for the repair or just driving it until it blows and getting a new motor. My dealership said to just ignore it until it starts to lose power. they said that could take years....

Is it knocking/shaking at 1000 RPM and lower when you slow down after warming up? Or all the time?

I noticed yesterday that when my guy took the manifold off to replace the seal (the manifold is actually cracked) he must have stressed the crack because it's now louder than before.

You're mechanic replaced the manifold gasket and not the manifold? It's not an easy task not to go new.

He didn't know it was cracked, he thought the gasket was just bad-which it was also. We are looking for a use manifold to put on it.

Its starts beautifully, runs very smooth, doesn't miss, no lose of power. The ticking starts after warm up and at times can be pretty loud.

Your sure it's not a cracked manifold? When you start researching it, there are tons of people who have one, and it's normally on the passenger side also.

I replaced mine a few months back and it had a pretty significant crack between the number 3-4 cyclinder. It also was the passenger side. My leak would almost completely go away after running 30sec. I used a SS stud kit I bought off eBay and a new Dorman manifold.

OEM all the way. Dormans have been known to fail pretty quick on this topic. A lot of members have changed their phasers or had them changed with the Dormans and had to go back in to do the job all over again in a few months (sometimes a few weeks). OEM phasers, get a new set of tensioners, guides, chains and the crank sprocket as well. If I were you, I would change out the lash adjusters and followers at the same time since you will already have the valve covers off anyway. I had 13 bad lash adjusters out of 24, so I changed all of mine out when I did the job. About 20,000 miles later, still no noise and sounds great. You may also want to change your oil pump and water pump out while you have the front cover off. Also, make sure that you check the oil filler screen inside of the oil pan to look for any possible pieces of broken timing guide pieces that would restrict oil flow.
Good luck
Tom
