The Final Repair Guide to 5.4 Cam Phaser Tick/Knock Sound
I will have to look up the codes but on the throttle body cleaner, I cleaned mine like that and then dipped them in oil and have no issues for over a year, prior to the cleaning, I had a P0012 code, the cleaner and dip in oil fixed that.

A VCT system failure could be the result of the oil pump being unable to hold a minimum of 26psi at a very hot idle or a possibly clogged pump sump screen.

Two test drives today with hot engine, VCT connected stumbled in drive, 500 RPM, 12 ish PSI. Disconnected VCT valves, no stumble or rough idle at same 10+ PSI oil. So, what do you think folks? Oil pump, dang now I have to remove all that crap again.
Couple ideas that can be tried.
Swap to a heaver weight oil as it will increase oil psi.
(It could even be considered just a temporary test) (this would be a band-aid approach & not a fix)
Swap the VCTs around & see if the codes follow that VCT.

Thanks, Will try the swap first
Thank you for the complete instructions on the 5.4l tick noise I did it in one day. But here is my problem...when coming to a stop after vehicle is warmed up it starts running rough and sounds like a diesel.
I have done all the following to vehicle...(thanks to S_Vares thread and others)
2006 with 74,000 miles
Sea foamed (twice) and flushed
Throttle body cleaned
VCT's replaced
Spark Plugs replaced
Cam sensors replaced
Timing chains, gear, phasers, guides, etc. (used kit from Rock Auto as put in this thread).
Runs great, sounds great but still have problem of when it warms up(10 minutes of driving) then it goes back to idling rough and stalling when I come to a stop.
Ford dealership looked at it and said they don't fix it they replace motor and at $7785.00 its not an option.
I'm thinking electrical or computer but want some ideas to look for or should I put after market oil pressure guage on it and see if its oil pressure?
Thanks

Long read, but does state 5W-30 is ok, also talks about pumps / engines not compatible

So going to switch to 5W-30 to get hot oil pressure up and repeat test drives.
As much as I'd like it to be the VCT valves, 10 min job, I fear the pump is my issue, 2 day job.
