Default Fender flare installation question

this weekend I Removed the fender flares to plastic coat them.
First experience with plastic coat pretty neat stuff.
About half of the mounting clips came off with the flares.
My question is; for reassembly should the mounting clips be placed on the truck first or the fender flares to archive the best fit?

I am not sure how they were installed originally that's why I asked the question.

Humm...when you were taking them off...you didn't notice where they were ?? You said some fell off ...where were the other ones...had to be on the truck itself.

It's clear how everything mounts and where everything goes.
I have two options when reinstalling the fender flares, put the clips on the flares first or put the clips on the truck.
If I put them on the truck first it looks like it will be difficult to get the flares on due to how they wrap around into the wheel well. If I put them on the fender flare first it looks like they will flex away and not go completely into the holes.

Yep...agree 100%. Start on one end and line them up and pop the pins/clips on, whatever one you have.
