Default Failed inspection!!!

Took my girl to get inspected today and it failed emissions due to catalyst o2 and o2 heater not ready I'm guessing I have a bad sensor somewhere I had a misfire about a month ago that I reset with my code checker( type 2 ) and kinda lost because if it was a sensor I would have check engine light right? ??

Looks to me like you have a bad O2.....each bank/side (left side exhaust and right side exhaust) has an O2 before the cat, and one after. So, there should be 4 O2 sensors.

What was the code number that you reset? More than likely it identified which bank and/or O2 sensor failed.

Maybe it's the cat (clogged), but usually the engine would have poor performance.

How many miles are on the odometer? If it's high, I'd suspect the O2 sensors, but thats just my best guess. I would not want you to go out and buy a replacement and have it be the wrong guess/diagnostic...

Wait awhile....I'm sure someone will chime in with a statement: "mine did the same thing...I changed the xxxxx, and it fixed it".

If you had a misfire for a mechanical/electronic reason, it will probably come back.

DON'T just clear the code, if you just keep clearing misfires and ignoring them you will have cat issues from fouling from dumping raw fuel into them.

People here can help you troubleshoot the issue, but it helps infinitely to know the codes you're getting.

Might be time for a ASE certified mechanic to look at it. You may get more responses here, but that might end up with you throwing parts at it until it's fixed; a costly repair!
