Default Factory Sub Install Questions

I have been searching everywhere and I am getting no where. Hopefully someone here can help me. I have a 2004 F150 supercab XLT. I recently picked up a factory sub and I am trying to install it, but I am confused on what I have to do. Here is what I have so far:

Alpine CDA-9856 Head unit (wiring diagram is on page 32 - http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products...20CDA-9856.PDF)

I also picked up the Metra sub plug (
Amazon.com: Metra 70-5522 Sub-Plug for Select 2003-2005 Ford Vehicles with Premier Radio: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Metra 70-5522 Sub-Plug for Select 2003-2005 Ford Vehicles with Premier Radio: Car Electronics
) and a 12V to 5V stepdown (
Amazon.com: Axxess Interface AFDI-5V Ford 12V to 5V Step Down: Car Electronics Amazon.com: Axxess Interface AFDI-5V Ford 12V to 5V Step Down: Car Electronics
) so I can attach the sub to the head unit.

Feeling good, I got the head unit out and looked to see if my truck has the factory sub wiring harness and it doesn't. So I got the parts based on this post to recreate the wiring harness (https://www.f150forum.com/f4/adding-...ry-radio-2454/)

So now I just have a couple of questions:

1) How do I get power to the sub? I see in the owners manual that there is a spot for a 25A fuse in slot 38. Should I be using this? Or should I just run power directly from the battery with an inline fuse?

2) Does anyone have any recommendations for what wire to use to recreate the sub wiring harness. That previous post just says to use shielded wiring.

I know this is pretty detailed and specific, but any help would be appreciated.
