Default Factory Stereo Fit Question

Hey all -

I have a '04 Heritage that recently had its stereo stolen for the second time. This time it really isn't worth dealing with the insurance, and I have decided to replace it with the most generic factory stereo I can.

I have a come across two. One is from an '06 F-150 and is just AM/FM, and the other is from a '99 Explorer AM/FM/cassette. Will either of these fit in my truck? Is there a good resource for finding what will work and what will not?

I have tried doing some Internet searches, but I am not coming up with the information I want. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if you can point me to a link where I can find my answer. I did search this forum and came up empty handed. I am the first to admit my knowledge on vehicles is very lacking.

Thanks for your time & help!

The best way to know for sure is to obtain the part number on the back of the radio. Then call your Ford dealership, ask for the parts department, and ask them to check that part number for years/models it will fit.

That sounds reasonable and easy enough for me. Thank you for the help!

I'd go to EBay.. they have them for 50-100 bucks, then when you install it mount it in with hardware that they can't get out... or install another piece of metal that is mounted to the radio that hampers the removal..... screws like they use in restrooms.... you put them in.. but they wont back out witout a special tool. they make screws witha head that is just two dots.. it takes a special tool to remove them.... they don't have it... they don't have the radio either!!
