New Ford owner here. 06 f150 SC 2wd. I searched the forum first and didn’t see anything for this gen, did the frames change in 06? I found an 04 factory hitch, but it doesn’t line up with my frame holes.

 

The 06 bumper isn't a straight swap onto an 04-05 so they must have changed something back there.
I assume it's not a bolt on, but I don't think they changed the frame dimensions overall so you might just have to open it slot some bolt holes?

 

I owned a Jeep before this and just assumed everything between 04-08 interchanged. Guess I should’ve done my research first.

 

04-05 and 06-08 have both different front and rear bumpers that aren’t interchangeable. You need a factory hitch from an 06-08 or go aftermarket.

also, 04-08 bumpers that came with the factory tow package are different than trucks that did not come with that package. With the tow package, the bumper mounts to the hitch. Without, it mounts to the frame and both styles of bumper are also not interchangeable.

 

Thanks for the help, guys. I went to take the bumper back to the wrecking yard and found one on a 07. Worked out great.
